Please call (707) 826-5194 for phone assistance and leave a message.

Please communicate with us:

-Via email: In your email, please include your name, the best number and time to reach you, and your Humboldt ID number, if applicable. Please include a description of the service you need or your question. Your message will be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate staff member for a reply. We will respond to messages as soon as possible. Messages are reviewed during our normal business hours.

-Via phone: If we do not answer, you can leave a message for the Graduate Studies team. Please include your first and last name, the best number and time to reach you, and your Humboldt ID number, if applicable. Leaving a message will notify our staff, who will return your call within the hour (or at a time you’ve specified).


-Via Zoom video conferencing. Please email us to schedule a Zoom appointment. We are available to schedule Zoom appointments during operating hours.

Announcements

Graduate Studies Professional Development Awards

We are pleased to announce that with the support of the Provost's Office, the Office of Graduate Studies will be able to offer Professional Development Awards this semester. The Grad Studies Professional development fund provides financial assistance to graduate students to assist in their study related expenses. These Awards can be used on expenses such as travel, field work, or research. You can apply for the Graduate Studies Professional Development Award below.

Spring 2026 Thesis Submission

Please keep in mind the Courtesy Format Review deadline April 27th, 2026, and the Final Submission deadline May 11th, 2026. Make sure that you have applied to Advancement to Candidacy and Graduation. You are required to attend a training session or take the online thesis training course through Canvas to save hours of correcting format errors.

Patricia McConkey Awards

If you know a student who is doing important work and deserves more recognition, please nominate them for a Patricia McConkey Award! These awards recognize the outstanding students graduating with a master’s degree from each program. There will be multiple McConkey awards; each program will select an awardee. Students who will have completed a master’s degree between May 2025 and May 2026 are eligible.

The deadline for submitting a nomination is February 20th, at 5 pm. Please submit an application to the Oustanding Student Awards website and email hsugrad@humboldt.edu a photograph of the nominated student that they would like used in the award ceremony as well as their current street address and email for ceremony invitations to be sent to
