Welcome to the Office of Graduate Studies 

Our office is located in Siemens Hall room 217. Our in-person hours are as follows for Spring 2023. 

Monday: 8-11am & 1-4:30pm

Tuesday: 2:30-4:30pm  

Wednesday: 8-11am & 1-4:30pm 

Thursday: 2:30-4:30pm 

The Office of Graduate Studies will be monitoring incoming emails daily from 8am-4:30pm at  hsugrad@humboldt.edu. For phone assistance, please call (707) 826-5194.

  • Via email  hsugrad@humboldt.edu.  In your email, please include your name, best number and time to reach you, and your Humboldt ID number if applicable.  Please include a description of the service you need or your question. Your message will be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate staff member for a reply. We will respond to messages as soon as possible. Messages are reviewed during our normal business hours: Monday – Friday, 8 – 4:30.

    Leave the Graduate Studies team a message. Please include your first and last name, best number and time to reach you, and your Humboldt ID number if applicable.  Leaving a message will notify our staff, who will return your call within the hour (or at a time you’ve specified.)

  • Via Zoom video conferencing. Please email us to schedule a Zoom, we are available to schedule Zoom appointments Monday - Friday from 8 - 4:30.

Fulbright Scholarship

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs.  A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose defining activities to take place during one academic year in a participating country outside the U.S.

Spring 2023 Thesis Submission

Please keep in mind the Courtesy Format Review deadline (April 24, 2023) and the Final Submission deadline ( May 8, 2023). Make sure that you have applied to Advancement to Candidacy and Graduation. You are required to attend a training session or take the online thesis training course through Canvas to save hours of correcting format errors.

The Center for Teaching and Learning is putting together a couple talks to help graduate students prepare CV's, their thesis defense, and theis publication. 

1st Talk: Marketing your CV on March 8th, 2:00pm in the Library, room 317

2nd Talk: Preparing your thesis for defense on March 20th, 4:00pm in the Library, room 317

Thesis and Project Formatting Workshop: The workshop is on April 18th, at 6:00pm in Library 121 you can enroll in the required thesis and project formmating class here
